Carolina Game Tables

A Manufacturer’s History

Clint Black has three generations of furniture business in his blood, and all three generations are from our neck of the woods in the foothills of Western North Carolina.

His grandfather A. J. “Rabbit” Hardin gained upholstery experience during the furniture manufacturing explosion in the post-World War II period, and decided to open a business with a friend in the 1940s: Suggs and Hardin. Clint’s father, Willard Black, began working for the family business and then opened his own company in the 1980s, Old Hickory Tannery, which is still going strong today. Clint served as Vice President at his father’s company for more than 10 years, and continues to help out there as needed.

In 2015 Clint and Jodi Black with their daughters launched Carolina Game Tables using Kickstarter—the first game table Kickstarter ever!

The first tables were delivered in 2016. A redesign of the dining top and finishing process in 2019 established the current process, which has now been tested by thousands of households across America.

Excellence In Manufacturing

The factory making our tables also makes furniture for other businesses like ourselves. It is a professional furniture manufacturing facility with the latest tools, and they will adapt and grow with us for as long as we need. This keeps our costs—and the price you pay for our tables—low.

Shipping is arranged through one of our third party vendors. We manage your payments for your convenience and to get you a better rate.

Tables are Not All We Do

Before starting Carolina Game Tables in 2015, Clint and Jodi were known as game designers in the tabletop industry. Jodi is currently Pinnacle Entertainment Group (PEG) Lead Editor, after serving as COO for a decade. Clint is Senior Game Designer at Pinnacle for Savage Worlds and the creator of the Necessary Evil setting. Savage Worlds is an award-winning tabletop roleplaying game (we hope you’ve heard of it!) designed by our good friend Shane Lacy Hensley. Check out PEG at www.peginc.com.

Clint and Jodi also have a Patreon for game design content, publishing under the name The Black Edition. Their current setting is Fey in LA: prohibition era urban fantasy in 1927 Los Angeles.
